Unboxing a 5D mark 3

I’m not one for doing unboxings, to be honest, I don’t know how people have the patience to sit though unboxing things slowly when they’re cool new toys gear to get out and play with. It’s like Unwrappy Day Christmas only I know what’s in the box ahead of time.

The much anticipated box from B&H Photo.
What’s a better way to fill a box than bags of air.

Oh wait, there’s more than just air in there!
The 5D Mark 3 Kit

Why the kit you may ask? Well, for starters because canon gives you a heck of a deal on the lens, the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM normally runs for $1150, when they do rebates, you save maybe $200, in kit form you save $350 and don’t have to wait for the rebates to start up again. And since I was planning on picking up the lens as a lighter more carryable complement to my 24-70/2.8L, that seemed like a good deal to me.

This certainly isn’t an Apple package.
It’s the filling that matters.

I won’t be posing a review any time soon, but I expect to be posting a lot of bits and pieces about things I’ve learned as I go. So far, I can say the 5D mark 3 has way more features, and settings than I’m used on the 1D mark 3, and the only real downside I’ve run into is that without a battery grip it’s not nearly as comfortable to carry and handle. Oh ya, and the shutter is wimpy sounding, it just doesn’t have the solid THUNK the 1D’s have, but that’s life I guess.
