Just a Friendly Reminder, Backup Your Data

I woke up this morning to the shrill beeping of my LSI logic SATA RAID card’s alarm indicating that a drive had failed. And sure enough my 500GB array holding my precious data was running in a degraded state. Alas I’m lucky that it was only 1 drive in the array, and not more or I would have lost all my data–which is mostly my photography right now–with out a backup to speak of. Fortunately, it’s all copying over to a nice new 750GB RAID 1 array, after which I’ll be burning a backup DVD set, which hopefully I’ll be able to remember to do into the future.

So this just a friendly reminder, backups are good.
